“Create your own style… let it be unique for yourself and yet identifiable for others.” ― Anna Wintour
Today, I went into the heart of the Marais (we live on the edge of the 3) for some fantastic shopping. I picked out some amazing Chocolates and found this scooter shirt. The Marais is an area that resembles the less crowded streets of New Orleans. Surrounded by small side walks and narrow one way roads, the Marais feels like wandering down alleys. I love this feeling and I have spend a good bit of time in the Marais area close to the Seine.
On this visit, I strayed into a museum full of 17-18th century art and furniture. I love the air of formality from this time period. Although beautiful, those clothes are uniquely suited for France and other climates that aren't regularly confronted with 100 degree temperatures(38 degrees celsius) with 100% humidity. I would rather step on a nail that have to wear a bonnet in August. I have however, noticed what an eye sore the clothes American tourists wear. Fanny packs, large boxy t-shirts and ill fitting shorts, to name a few offensives, are a regular site at museums and the general tourist joints. I wish, on a whole, we would spruce up our act. Find our own style. Americans are so fantastic, I wish our style properly expressed the grandeur of our nation.
